Technically, yes, Sayo is born a male and identify as a woman, but at the same time, they didn’t know that they are biologically male and therefore, never make the conscious act to identify as female, since they always think they were born female. That one could fit Sayo, but then again, to identify as another gender from the one you’re born in, you need to at least know the gender you were at your birth, which Sayo didn’t know. The other definition is someone who identifies as a different gender from the one they are born in. The chances that they were always meant to identify as a female even without that incident are extremely low, especially since being trans is a rare condition. They always thought they were a woman because they were lied to since their birth. If you’re going with the definition that transgenders are people who are born in a different sex to the one they identify to, then I don’t think Sayo is. So Sayo, who was born male, was raised as a female and didn’t know during most their life that they weren’t biologically female.ĭoes that mean Sayo is transgender? Well, that’s up to debate, depending on what you consider to be trans. They fell from a cliff (thanks, Natsuhi…), and suffered from injuries on their genitals, which forced the doctor to remove most of them. From what with see in the manga version, Sayo was most likely born male. So, let’s begin by the begin, shall we? Which is the individual known as Sayo Yasuda. Don’t worry, my point isn’t to be disrespectful towards those people, but to objectively analyze a fictional character. I also want to warn you that I’ll talk about transgender and bisexuality in that post, which may trigger some people. I’ll explain later why I made that choice. I only used Yasu at first to avoid spoiling people, since Sayo is also Shannon’s name and I don’t want to spoil people about her character.īefore beginning, I have to specify that I’ll use they/them pronoun about Sayo since their gender is up to debate, he/him for Kanon and Lion and she/her for Beatrice and Shanon. Okay, from now one I’ll call them Sayo instead of Yasu, because it’s the name they prefer.

I still see people liking and reblogging this post and I feel like I have a responsability to take accomtability for the harmful rethoric I used to hold 3 years ago. I do not agree with most of what is written bellow and intend to write another post debunking most of what is written here, which is why I won’t delete the post but is putting this clear warning that I do not hold those believe anymore. I educated myself and learned a lot since the last 3 years and accepted myself as trans and no longer hold the same views as when I wrote this post.
